Beer Bread
Beer bread is an easy to bake classic requiring no yeast, no kneading and needs no proofing! And you can use any type of beer or lager you have in the cupboard - it tastes amazing with all. It’s one of those bakes that you can whip up from cupboard staples anytime you need a tasty lunch. And it tastes incredible warm and generously buttered!
This recipe was created in collaboration with Homepride using their Superior Sponge Pre-Sieved Flour.
You will need a 2lb loaf tin for this recipe, along with a large bowl and whisk. You may use a stand mixer or a standard hand whisk will work just as well!
Beer Bread
Preparation time: 5 minutes
Cooking time: 50 minutes
INGREDIENTS
375g Homepride Superior Sponge Flour
45g caster sugar
1 tsp salt
330ml bottle of pale beer/ale
45g melted butter
INSTRUCTIONS
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees C/160 degrees C fan
Grease a 2lb loaf tin
In a large bowl add the flour, sugar, salt, beer and half of the melted butter and whisk thoroughly to combine
Pour the mix into the loaf tin
Drizzle the remaining melted butter over the top of the uncooked dough
Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 50 minutes or until golden and an inserted skewer/tooth pick comes out clean
Once baked, remove from the oven and allow to cool in the tin for 5 minutes
Remove the cooked loaf from the tin and allow to cool on a wire rack
Best served warm with a little salted butter
